With 9.6, we’re having to use Classic AMP, but now for hundreds of pages we’re getting the Google Search Console error of “Content mismatch: Missing embedded video”.

Is there a way for Google to still recognize those posts have a video without manually having to go in and change the post template?

Unfortunately, the Classic AMP plugin does not have this implementation for Featured Video, sorry! If you want to achieve this functionality, you need to use our new theme’s functionality with Mobile Theme and AMP. I would love to use the Mobile Theme/AMP functionality as I think it looks and works great, but those mobile pages will not load ads from Amazon, Taboola, and Insticator. I’ve only been able to get Google AdSense to load on those pages since the Mobile Theme and AMP were combined. Unless there’s something I’m missing.

As far as I know AMP can’t display a featured video, option that in this case is provided by the theme. So only a thumbnail of the video will appear in the AMP version. Post is still valid though – http://prntscr.com/my52tf

So you tried entering those ad codes in the mobile theme ad sections and they do not work? That may happen, adsense will work, other ads should work as well, but there could be exceptions.

This is true. The pages come back with a “Valid with warning” message from Google, so it’s probably not an issue.
I did try and they showed up as blank spots except for the Google ads, but I can certainly try again. A couple of them require header and footer codes to be added, so do I use the header-amp.php and footer-amp.php in themes/Newspaper/mobile?
So between the head tags and probably before the closing body tag. Try to add those codes in the AMP plugin here – http://prntscr.com/mybm9f – http://prntscr.com/mybnbw

Try both these suggestions and check if the ads appear.
I’ve tried both suggestions, but unfortunately neither method worked. I’ll keep the mobile site turned off for now.
