Hello goos3d,
Please check here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities because there you will find all the roles and capabilities for all types of users in WordPress.
Thanks.
Hi Catalin,
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I’ve read through that and understand how the roles work. I’ve also taken a look at editing roles with an add-on.
The problem I’m having is directly associated with a bug in the theme.
I’ve created extra users as far as editor and author, but with the Newspaper theme active, these roles only get a blank page when clicking “add new post”.
To test this, I’ve swapped back to an old theme, and the roles work fine. I’ve also updated everything and the problem persists.
Any further idea as to rectify this problem?
Martin
Hello goos3d,
What do you mean regarding on add-on? Please notice that if you are using some untested plugins, it could appears some issues and we cannot provide support for these. Try to use the theme only with tested plugins to bring best results.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi Catalin,
I have tested with and without said add on. This was to gain extra control over roles, but is irrelevant to the bug I’m experiencing.
The problem I’m having is that the theme is hampering Contributors who have the ability to create posts from creating posts.
I have tested this with an older theme and the same users could create posts, but when using the Newspaper theme they cannot.
Thanks
Martin
Hello goos3d,
As you can see in Codex documentation, the Contributors has only to edit_posts, delete_posts as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/gtLyC3jC6Pwe As Contributor, you can create a new post but he cannot publish it but only Submit for Review, just like this -> http://screencast.com/t/y0BomA33B2fq As you can see, as Contributor you cannot have any access to Media Library and therefore you cannot set the Featured Image. Please notice that all these roles and Capabilities are related from WordPress system and not from our theme.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello goos3d,
Please keep in mind that our theme strictly uses predefined roles and capabilities predefined by WordPress and we do not alter all of these. I have tested to a default theme with contributor and it cannot create a post until the admin submits it after review, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/TCMFsoCGj This is the standard behaviour for Contributor user. Please notice that exist a lot of plugins in this regard which alter these functionalities with the help of which you can you can override these roles.
Also, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information so we ca further inspect it. Provide the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.
