Convert child theme back to parent theme

I’m still running Newspaper 7 in child form, because back then it was necessary to customize it.

Since I could now achieve the same using the tools that the new versions have incorporated, and since I want the updates to be done automatically, I want to get rid of the child theme. How can I do that?

If I install the new version over the child, I think the child will remain (after all it was its function to preserve certain php, css, etc.).
If I install the new version on a new WordPress on a subdomain, I would have to somehow import all the posts/articles with their paths, hierarchies, categories that I made, etc., before move it to the main domain.

What would be the best way to get rid of the child theme?

Hi,
If I understood correctly, you want to update to the latest version of the theme and get rid of the child theme.
If so, I must inform you that now the latest version will give you the impression that you are using a completely different theme, the theme has its own builder and everything can be edited in the frontend.
My suggestion is to do staging and do some tests there.
To get rid of the child theme, all you have to do is activate the parent theme – https://i.imgur.com/ndod9VE.png
Thank you!

Thanks! I’ll do that
