I made some test and the results seems to be like this:
CPT single using the CPT Bg Featured Image element – – https://i.imgur.com/G62kN1c.png
CPT single using the CPT Featured Image element – – https://i.imgur.com/kR04QVn.png
Now a test when there is no cpt template – https://i.imgur.com/TkjQkdh.png when there is no CPT single post template make sure that on your single post template on featured image you have the option for Image preload enabled (the theme will apply that option if is enabled).

Thank you for checking. The results you have are correct.
But, try with the following conditions:
1) Single post template doesn’t exist – don’t create Single post template (in cases when there is no need for simple single posts);
2) CPT Single post template uses CPT Featured Image block with the Image Preload function enabled.
Result: Preload on CPT Single post template is not working.
– The system does not register the Image preload function on CPT single post template if there is no Single post template with the enabled Image preload function.

Hi Alex, indeed, it appears that the image preload from single post template is somehow connected with the one from the cpt single post template and those should be individual (maybe they are individual but that option was missed), I added on our list and a developer will check and fix it to ca work without the single post template.
