I’m trying to configure the post settings to display the custom byline inside of a block on a page (ex. block 21) instead of the author (the same person who uploads all posts) – the bylines are filled out in the posts but not displaying. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sorry but blocks were built to pull specific information from posts and the byline is not among the information grabbed on blocks. It will need a custom function to grab other info besides the one already implemented. Unfortunately we cannot offer a quick solution in this regard. Sorry

There is a plugin– Custom Author Byline — that allows you to add a custom author name to the byline other than the logged in user writing/editing the post/page. Online newspapers have contributing writers and freelancers who write infrequently. I’ve used it for about a year now, but it does not seem to work with the newspaper 8 theme. How would one implement this plugin within newspaper 8? Is there a link to a manual that discusses your API? Thanks.
