When using the standard post templates you can choose a sidebar for each post, which is great. I’ve created a new single post template from one of the cloud templates but it doesn’t seem possible to have the sidebar-per-post feature. When adding a widget sidebar you have to choose which sidebar for the template – can it not be set to ‘custom sidebar’ and take the setting from the post itself?

Using cloud single templates you will have to define a sidebar in the actual template, either by dragging the elements you want in the allocated sidebar space (by splitting the rows when creating the template) or by using a widget sidebar element and choosing from your widget sidebars

Thanks, so to confirm, the functionality available in the standard theme post templates is not available in the cloud templates, maybe something for future updates?
Also – can it be made possible to duplicate post templates – sometimes after creating the perfect template, it would be good to be able to duplicate it and make small amends (such as the sidebar, since it’s set in the template!)
That will be the case, the template has to be created fully in the composer screen. There a sidebar can be created in either ways as mentioned. I can’t say if this will change in the future, I believe it will not but I could be mistaken.
You could duplicate it like this. Say you created a template as you want. Create a new template, choose the blank one for example

Then save it. Open the cloud library section, click edit on both the empty template and the one you have created and want to modify

Copy the content from the created template in the blank template and remember to rename it so you can easily identify it

Joining this topic as I have the same limit on my end.
Any update on the roadmap to add this feature ? It is really a problem not to be able to customize the sidebar on a post basis (like a normal post).
Example for me : I have the same cloud template to use and the sidebar needs to change every time. So I end up having 20 different template, it’s horrible to maintain and to create.

Nothing changed in this matter for the moment. The only way to have a specific sidebar using cloud post templates would be to create multiple templates. The template will display what is present in the respective template page. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I believe an option will be added to be able to select a post template for whole categories of posts, for easier management. So posts from one category use one template, from another category another one and so on.
