On my custom created sidebars – when I add widgets they disappear once I refresh the page.

I saw an earlier similar issue that mentioned something about ampersand which I had and removed – issue still happens…

Two questions:
1) How is this relevant to this ticket?
2) Are you sure you want to have this discussion in the public forum?

hi,
1) if is the way we think then why offer more support?

2) if you are not finding our theme useful then please contact us on email for a refund at contact@tagdiv.com .

Thanks for you message.

Well,
Since you ask so nicely…

1) Offer more support because I believe this is part of the job and obligation as long as I am your customer.

2) Because the time I spent trying to work on your theme already is worth ten times the refund and although I am not a satisfied customer at this point – I am still trying to work with this theme.

3) Maybe it’s time, to act like a professional – try to change my mind – prove to me that I am wrong in what I wrote about you and stop avoiding the ticket??

Another day with out support?

I hope you wake up tomorrow with an understanding that:

None of our sites have the issue with disappearing sidebars. Of course, we had issues with the IE web browser, which were solved by using Chrome. I created a custom sidebar for home page, edited it, saved it, working perfectly. No issues. Typically issues with “missing sidebars” is due to placing a “bad behavior” plugin into a sidebar which tries to write malformed CSS or query to dbase, or improperly escaped javascript, etc. When the sidebar tries to render it can’t since the code is broken. Usually if I run into something like that, I first create the sidebar with just *one* element like a drop down for pages, then check and make sure it works, then add more widgets to the sidebar. Then if something doesn’t work, backtrack. Not sure if that helps, but that’s been my experience the past 9 years with WordPress stuff.

Strange are the ways of WP…

Thank you Christopher for the helpful direction and for demonstrating what an effective support answer might look like.

Following your lead and with a fresh start after (again) spending much to much time on a relatively simple issue I hope this is behind me…

I ran into this with a custom latest posts widget that let me choose just a plain text list of news items from a single category without images. If I put the widget in one place it would not work, if I used two of them stacked it wouldn’t work. So, I had to separate them by an AdSense box and then worked just fine. Annoying as heck. It turned out it wasn’t resetting the dbase query each time, so the second one wouldn’t work if put in a certain place. Sheesh. Nothing to do with this theme, but with Woo Canvas for another site. Always a fun time with this stuff (gremlins! voodoo!) 🙂

I can confirm this problem. Tested with Text and Custom menu.

Hi,

@vitakurhotel
Have you also tested this without any other plugins active? Please do so and let me know if you still have issues with this as I have also tested this and seems to work fine. Please also make sure the you use the latest theme version(4.6).

Thanks

I use 4.6, but on theme panel I see Version: 4.5d.

Active plugins,

tagDiv speed booster;
WPBakery Visual Composer.

I try to switch off all plugins, same problem.

Hi,

The 4.5d version of the theme from theme panel was added by mistake it should state 4.6 which is the latest theme version.
For the other main matter please give us wp-access so we can check this and send your wp-admin user and pass at contact@tagdiv.com and specify your issue details or provide a link to this tread.

Thanks

Hey,

I’m having the same problem. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Hi,

The sidebar dose not work in case you used special character in the title so please make sure that you haven’t used any special characters into it’s name and if so renamed it and try again.
Hope this helps, please let me know!

Thanks

Hi,

@elihuvillaraus
Can you please provide more details about your issue with a custom sidebar? Please make sure that you don’t use special characters into sidebar name like Lucian suggested(anyway sidebar’s name is not visible in frontend) as we had some reports regarding this issue.

Thanks!
