Customize Sub-categories list

Hi! Can help me please?

My categories are: A, B, C D, E, F … 32 categories
In each Category there are sub-categories, i.e. For category A there are this sub-categories: A1,A2,A3…to A140. I have 140 subcategories on each main category.

Then I go to http://mysite.com/category/A

When I go to that address I see a Problem. The subcategories are showed but only 10 subcategories and the others 130 are dropped down. all space width is not used. I need to show more subcategories without dropdown because it fills all the page with the other 130 subcategories, you have to go down all the page to view the other subcategories. This is ugly for the visitors! I think I need Something like two lines or three to show more categories and less dropdown sub-categories. can you help me please?
