Default 404 not working after updating Newspaper 9.1

Dear Team,

I am using default 404 template, It was working fine until I updated Newspaper 9.1, Now it’s not giving any 404 error, no matter page does exist or not. It’s showing home page instead.

can you please check, Is it bug or I have done something wrong.

That is unusual, check if the 404.php file is present in the main theme folder

Hi,

Quite unusual, so only by updating the theme all 404’s are redirected to the homepage. It is possible to redirect 404 pages to the homepage with SEO plugins or code in htaccess, maybe other ways as well. But that would be if you intend to do so.

If possible check to see if the same happens if you switch to a default WordPress theme or a different theme as a quick test. Let me know what happens if you can try this.

Hi Simion,

It seems strange, but with default theme also my all 404 pages are redirecting to homepage.

I even tried after disabling yoast, wordfance and jetpack. still the problem persist.

Also maybe contact your hosting provider and mention this to them as well, they might have changed something or have an idea why this is happening.
