Dynamic widget plugin is generating heavy (around 1.5 GB) of error logs in a day which is causing the site to downstate. After that we again have to clear the error logs and we are back to original state. Kindly help out for the same.
Hi,
It’s really sad to see replies like this. We never got a single satisfactory reply from you people. The widget name is “Dynamic Widget” itself. I think any theme writer would already know that. Our hosting provider told us that the log problem can be only resolved from your side.
This is the message that we got from our hosting provider:
“Our monitoring system has been alerted us about your server’s disk usage. The HHVM error log contained 144 GB of data because of the following widget:
[Tue Mar 21 18:21:17 2017] [hphp] [4610:7fa3423ff700:3189:71193214] [] \nWarning: readdir() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /www/fossbytesatlanta_179/public/wp-content/plugins/dynamic-widgets/dynwid_class.php on line 12
I’ve cleared the file and restarted everything, but this is a returning issue, the file generated during the past 24 hours. Please review the error and do the necessary changes. Also, we can disable the HHVM logging, but if something may happen, we won’t be able to recover everything from the log.”
Please contact the theme’s developer about this issue. The site will go down every day if this issue has not being resolved.”
They have advised us to contact you for the help. Also, as an alternate solution, we tried shifting to PHP7 from HHVM, but the website didn’t load. Probably the theme isn’t supporting PHP7.
Best Regards,
Hello,
Please note Chris is not part of the staff but a user just as you. He usually helps others on our forums but he does this voluntarily:)
As for the plugin you use, we really do not know it. It is not a tested plugin so it can provide mixed results. The only plugins tested and recommended to be used with our theme are found in the theme panel plugins section.
It is not a requirement for a theme developer to know all plugins out there. Quite contrary…we have little knowledge of all the different plugins created. We focus on our own theme and not on third party plugins.
Newsmag for the moment does not support php 7 but we will implement this in the next theme version coming out the following days.
We suggest not using the plugin with our theme if it creates problems for you.
Thank you!
Correct. I don’t work here, however it’s worth noting that TagDiv — and others here who help out from time to time as long time users — often need more info than “a plugin doesn’t work” hence my asking “which” one. There are thousands of third party plugins and NOT all of them work with current version of WordPress introduced in 2017. The plugin you mention hasn’t been updated in 8 months or more, and has numerous support forum problems on WordPress.org noted.
That plugin is not made by TagDiv so “demanding” support from anybody here and then complaining about not getting support, seems a bit unfair and childish.
But, sorry for trying to help. Good luck!
