Hi,
Is there a way to set a default sidebar on all posts, so the journalist or writer doesn’t have to select it every time they write a new port?

Hello,
There is a default sidebar which is the first option when editing posts. When you create a new post the default sidebar is active first. Just edit the sidebar in the widgets area: http://screencast.com/t/3HwtHuKj8cJt and if you do not change the sidebar option, this default one will show up in the front end.
