So, when I was first starting out, I uploaded a demo to get an idea of how everything works – I then went through editing all the theme and things through the Newsmag options. If I was to uninstall that demo would I lose all of those settings/customizations or would it carry over to the base theme uploaded?

If you will use such a demo with a demo content imported and then if you will edit the dummy content with your changes after you will change the demo, all of your edited posts will be lost. You should not edit, you need to create because then, all of these will be updated into your database and you will never lose anything.

Not sure I’m following.
1. I uploaded a demo through the Newsmag demos.
2. I edited site features like colors/template settings…etc.
3. If I was to remove the demo (it would revert back to the base Newsmag theme) – does it keep the settings I made?

Please notice that when you import such a demo, you will have two possibilities: import it with content (dummy content) and import it without content. So, if you will use the first way and if you will edit the dummy content with your content when you switch the demo with another one, you will lose all of this content. If you will create your own posts and pages, you will never lose them.
