How can I disable Author pages from being visible ? I don’t need them at all in the site.
I don’t want to use a plugin like Yoast (which I think can do this) – is there another way ? A divert perhaps ?

An SEO plugin is recommended because it will help make your site more visible. However, if you only use the theme, you might not achieve the desired results. Additionally, for the author, you can use CSS with pointer-events: none;
