Disable Mobile version

Hello,
I WOULD LIKE Disable Mobile version of the theme . They want to see the web From the Mobile version of the tablet is displayed.

The site is responsive, I don’t think there is a “mobile version” for Newsmag.

Responsive design means the theme uses CSS to change the layout depending on “viewport,” — so there is no separate “mobile theme” to turn off.

The desktop version does show on tablets, like iPad (I use one).

You might be able to delete the CSS for the phone viewport in the style.css file, so you might start there and delete sections for smallest viewport.

But, TagDiv might have better answer. 🙂

What I need is that when you see the web from mobile design is not responsibe . We need the mobile web looks like the tablet or computer.

The way advertising sidebard (at the end of the web ) is distributed is not liked by our advertisers.

Probably need to hire a developer to customize the CSS viewports to, again, remove the smallest viewports for phones from the style.css to not load any custom css for phones, if that’s what you’re after.

@Vanesafp the theme was intent to be responsive and there is no easy way to change that behavior. Basically you need to go trough style.css file and remove the code between media queries: http://screencast.com/t/jPiFmfdRBxf
This is a very complex task =which requires time and good codeing skills in order to be achieved. We can’t offer customization services at the moment so if really need this and you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

I understand that the subject has been designed in response mode .
In tablets, the web is viewed much like computer displays . But mobile advertising sidebar stays at the bottom , so that the reader will not see advertising while reading the news.
It would be perfect for us , so it looks like on mobile tablets .
If we can not do this, the theme does not help us .

Just some feedback as somebody who uses his iPad every day going on 4 years:

On the iPad in portrait, the sidebar does stay on the right unless you have something in the sidebar which is not responsive and which has a fixed width of 300. So, this is why it’s best to use “responsive” ad units, and anything else you put in your sidebar.

On a phone, it would make no sense to have the sidebar visible as it would be too narrow for anybody to see.

Simpler solution is to turn off sidebar ads on mobile, and then enable top of post ads for mobile 🙂

I guess if you’re using an iPad mini, the OTHER best solution would be to create a new viewport for “that size” which is in-between a phone and iPad. But you’d likely need to figure out what size that is, then modify the style.css to add that”width” at bottom of your style.css file.

So, the original iPad mini, which isn’t a good idea to shoot for is 1024×768, which is really about what a modern phone happens to be.

However an iPad MINI rev4, has a resolution of 2048-by-1536 — so you’d need an “interim” viewport added for the 1536 width to not break and go to smaller size and lose sidebar.

I think I’m not explaining my problem well.
In tablet, the sidebar is displayed to the right of the news, and this is great.
But in mobile, the sidebar (with all sides ads) are at the bottom of the web. Underneath all the news. Therefore, our advertisers are not happy, because nobody is going to go down to the end of the web to see advertising.

It would be great mobile web will see as in tablet (whit sidebar).

As I’ve mentioned in my previous reply this task involve some serious customization and we can’t provide a solution for the moment. We can provide support for everything related with current theme’s features but changing theme’s layout it’s a task which falls beyond the support can offer you.

And, again by “mobile” do you mean phones? An iPad is a “mobile device” as is a “tablet.”

On a phone, having a SIDEBAR would not work as everything would be narrow and tiny.

So your best choice is my suggestion:

a) turn off desktop ads on mobile from ad panel, so they won’t appear in sidebar (below content)

b) turn on “in content” ads on mobile, off on desktop, to have ads show above or in middle of content on mobile devices.

Or, hire a developer to edit the “viewports” and “break points” for your layouts as you wish for “mobile” devices.

Hi, I would like to know if in the new updates there is the possibility of deactivating the phone version of the theme. I want the web to look the same in the phone as in the computer. I know that this penalizes in google and everything else … but Ads are placed at the bottom of the web and this is wrong.
