Hi Tag Div
I am hoping you can help me, the Newspaper theme is amazing and there is a function that nearly does exactly what I need . . nearly . I wanted to see if there was a way I can trick it into doing it. I have also researched every plugin on the market and had no luck.
Simply, on a users post (single page) I want on the sidebar widget to also display the latest custom posts by that author of a certain type. It needs to support custom posts and display them nicely just like the site does now (I’ve noticed that in the standard page it has a tab that displays users posts, but it’s hidden behind the “related articles” tab. I would like to have that in front, and have it as a sidebar widget or anwhere but the bottom of the post.
Is that possible?
Also, the author bio, is there a way in the tool to display an attractive author bio on the single post page as well, customisable?
That’s all from me. I’ve tried a lot and am open to any ideas.
Sincerely
Derek
Hello,
As i understand it, you want to move the related articles in the sidebar. You can do it like so:
Copy this part of the code from the loop files: http://screencast.com/t/W4EqWWOw6YJ8 and place it below the sidebar in the single files: http://screencast.com/t/WdJkyKUlJr
You can do this for every template you use on your posts. Every file number coresponds to the template you select on your post edit.
If yopu want to have the more from author first, you can switch their position here: http://screencast.com/t/Itd4Ql6HKxJ
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi Bogdan, I understand what you are saying and that makes sense. Is there another way of doing this by inserting that code into a new widget or a sidebar widget . . rather than messing up the single_template files?
Can I drop that code into a widget that accepts PHP?
PS – there is literally no “up to date” author post widgets out there, they are all very out of date. this would be a neat widget
