Does Newspaper 9 Rely/Use the XML-RPC.PHP file?

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well!

I am currently suffering from a nasty xml-rpc.php bot attack on my site and want to disable that function comepletely. Before I do so can I ask if anyone knows whether or not the theme relies on this function to operate before I go ahead and block it? Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

That would be related to remote connecting to WordPress, theme won’t be affected by disabling it, maybe some of your plugins will. Check some online info about it

if you find my security best practices [tutorial] here in the forum, I believe there is some more info on that which I do for my sites, as well as other ‘hardening’ measures all sites should do.

We disable XMLRPC on all our sites. For WP, you generally only need it now if you are using Jetpack.
