Does Newspaper theme support WebP

Hello,
Does Newspaper theme support WebP format? Since WordPress 5.8 is coming with WebP.
If it does, can I upload a WebP Logo instead of a PNG one? https://forum.tagdiv.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/logo-and-favicon.png

Unfortunately at the moment we cannot confirm 100% that everything will work as it should. Once the new version is out we will test it and confirm or do the changes needed.

How is it now? Is .webP supported in the current version (homepage, posts, TagDiv gallery)?

Yes, now it can be used, most of the users use plugins to transform images in webp.

thanks for your fast answer.
Does it make a difference whether I have it done with a plug-in or with a program on my own computer before the upload? Or does that not matter?
I try to have as few plug-ins running as possible. Too often plug-ins cause problems that are then difficult to find.

Hi,
We only tried with plugins, but I think it must be ok if the image was made on a PC with a program. Normally the results should be the same.
