Does Newspaper theme work with newest PHP versions?

Hi,

I am currently using the Newspaper theme, and my site is running on PHP 7.4.33.

I would like to ask if the Newspaper theme works properly with PHP 8.2 or PHP 8.3.

The last time I tried to upgrade to PHP 8, the entire site broke, and I had to switch back to the older PHP version. Because of that, I want to be very careful before trying again.

What is the safest way to upgrade PHP without breaking the site?

I’m using all TagDiv products with 8.3x just fine.

Hi mrg, the theme has been compatible with PHP 8 for quite some time, so it should work without issues on versions 8.2 and 8.3. It’s possible that other factors were causing conflicts in your setup. Recently, we’ve also seen several users successfully running the theme on PHP 8.4.

Hi,
I have the issue – when trying to update to 8.3, the website crashes completely.
Any way to debug it?

Hi newsru, is it possible to have an extra plugin or something that is interfering. Here is how you can do, enabled the debug https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/debug/debug-wordpress/, after that disable all plugins except the theme plugins and and in case you are using a child theme, disable lit and set the main theme, after that update the php version and see if the site is crashing, if no, start enable the plugins one by one and check after each plugin to see if the site crash until you discovered de plugin that is creating the problem.
