I have set images for each category to display in the background for the main category pages. However, these also display in the background for single post pages, which gives each post a disjointed look as the background image isn’t necessarily appropriate for the displayed post and can be visually distracting. Is there any way to display a white background for single posts whilst retaining the images on the category pages?

Sorry but please notice that’s the default theme’s functionality if you will set up a category background image from Theme panel, unfortunately! If you want to change this feature you should edit the theme core files and if you are not aware how to do this, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!
