Dropcaps not working correctly anymore (maybe update bug?)

Hi there,

Suddenly me dropcaps aren’t styled correctly anymore. If I look at the editor and see the published page it is very different.

Expected output:

Actual output:

I understand that the color is decided by the theme accent colors, however the styling (font size etc) is all very off. And it wasn’t before the update.. Please check.

Please note that the actual output is thus much smaller as well. I am running the latest WordPress with Newsmag 4.3.1

Just checked and this behaviour seems to be caused by Visual Composer. If you add a Text Block through VC and try to do a Dropcaps I get this wrong output. If however I go to the ‘standard’ editor and use the Dropcaps style it is rendered properly.. Please investigate 🙂

Hi

I’ve checked this on my side and for posts the drop-caps works fine even if I use a text block (if I have Visual Composer active for posts): http://screencast.com/t/iUc11Z99TMhttp://screencast.com/t/E5ysxMijj
The drop-caps weren’t designed to to work on pages, the css classes are different that’s why the css doesn’t applies. Please provide a link where this issue appears so I can investigate it closer and maybe I can provide a solution.

Thanks!

Hi Andrei L.,

Thanks for the quick reply. As the site is in development now I cannot provide you a live example.
I have checked on my end and indeed if I use dropcaps on posts it works fine. So the problem is isolated to pages and must have something to do with the CSS settings not being used for pages.

Can you please provide me advice on what to change to have the CSS settings for all those related things (blockquotes, dropcaps etc.) also be applied on pages?

I do not see any reason why it should not be used on pages, I see lots of possibilities to incorporate them in pages as well. Is that an easy fix?

Thanks!

Hi

Basically you need to add .td-container class followed by dropcap specific css class like here: http://screencast.com/t/0rDZVjzhv3W The process is the same for quotes: http://screencast.com/t/xJf8uJEelamI
This task require some css knowledge and my advice is to find someone to help you with it if you can’t do it yourself.

Hope this help.
Thanks!
