When trying to add a shortcode un column text and going to edit content.. When clicking on the edit content button the wp editor just keeps spinning and not allowing me to go any further and add the shortcode
Could you let me know why this may be happening?

Hello!
You will have to first start looking for a plugin conflict. please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
Also you can try and remove and re-install the tagDiv Composer plugin.
