Edit page excerpts facility please

Hi all,

I would rather not edit the tagdiv functions.php to add the WordPress Excerpts edit interface ( that is present in the posts edit on the right hand side underneath featured Image) as advised by WordPress here !

As you well know, it would be overwritten with the next update anyway.

I see, under preferences, I can show “Custom fields” but did not immediately see an option there. But perhaps it is there.

I would also rather not find a plugin, because of security concerns. Fewer plugins the better.

Any help welcome.

Unfortunately, another method to set the excerpt for pages we don’t have, only this, to set the code in functions.php, but you can set the file in a child theme, and then you will not lose your changes after the update -> https://theme.co/forum/t/add-excerpt-to-pages/55460
