Hi,
I’m not sure what’s going on but my entire website is messed up after doing the update.
I need help!
1) clear your cache; if using local cache or a CDN
2) make sure you cleared cache prior to uploading new theme; make sure you updated theme by removing old folder and uploading new theme folder vs “over writing”
3) make sure you fully clear your browser cache to make sure you’re seeing the new style sheets if you did (1) and (2) properly
4) sometimes the widgets reset, and you’d need to redo the widget/sidebar for homepage
5) any changes you made to templates, style.css, functions.php. need to be redone as they are lost on upgrade
Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@greggyboone
Please make sure you do as Christopher suggested and let me know if you still having other theme related issues.
Thanks
I have this issue every time WordPress runs an update. As soon as the new update goes out, my theme settings and widgets are lost. This is crucial to me as we have a reputation as well as analytics code to rely on within the theme settings. I need to know of a permanent fix. I am using Newsmag v 3.3.1 and wordpress 4.7.3.
Hello,
Unfortunately this is not theme related. The theme settings and theme data is kept in the database. If your database is reset after an update, then it’s either a faulty wordpress install or a corrupt database. There is nothing on the theme side that can reset the settings after an update. Especially if it’s a wordpress update.

Thank you!
Hi Bogdan,
Thank you for your response. I tested with MAMP and you are correct. The settings stay when I do a theme update so my issue would lie within either the WP install on my live server or a corrupt database as you said. Thank you! I will contact my hosting company for support.
