error after installing the child theme

Hi,

After I installed the child theme I have these eror in the dashborad

Please can you let me know what the problem could be.

I also have the exact same set of error messages on my site, except for the different domain. Fresh WordPress install, only Newsmag and Newsmag-child themes installed. This is the second install that has failed.

The first install I went ahead and began installing the plugins, thinking that might be an issue, but that threw error messages requiring a wipe and reinstall (in a completely different directory).

FWIW this is a standard installation of WordPress through my host using Softaculous.

I found this post: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/child-theme-2/ and followed the instructions. Removing the line in functions.php solved all of the warnings.
