Hi,
you can replace the word “thumb” in the image

image “class =” entry-thumb ”

According to the staff of Google News
Following a re-examination of his images, we identified an element in the image code that could lead to its failure to indexing by our robot.

Used in the DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE

Where in your page source is that located… can you post an exmple of the code from your post page which has “thumb” used for something other than a CSS class name? A CSS class name can be named anything and has no impact on Google News grabbing an image from the first image in the post proper. Google News does tend to “scan” the content on the post vs loading the og tags, sadly, but curious what in your post code is showing as “thumb.”

Could you share that?

Curious.

Maybe I have not expressed well,

The staff of Google News, to which I refer the scanzione post

I wrote that:

Should remove the word “thumb” in the following code:

image class = “entry-thumb”
Instead of thumb how can I change this and leave just “entry-img”

in DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE

Okay. Well, if you can’t show the code you’re having an issue with hard to help. And image class is just normal CSS .. one can call a CSS class anything and has no impact on Google News or anything else. You can call a CSS class class=”dumbbunnyshoes” and it works just fine.

If you need to, you would have to change the CSS in both the style sheet and all templates that call the CSS class, which is not normal and nobody else is having this issue in Google news that I am aware of (including my own sites).

An example of the actual code (view source from your page, copy/paste, then apply ‘code’ style in this forum thread) to SHOW what code you’re referring to.

Or, wait for Lucian or Marius to try to figure out what you’re doing. I need to see an example of the code on YOUR post page where you’re having this problem code to offer any guidance. Will check back tomorrow.

It should remove the word “thumb” in the following code:

<div class=”td-post-featured-image”>Un posto al sole anticipazioni dal 30 giugno al 4 luglio 2014: la verità sulla paternità di Tommaso</div>

Hi,

You can change it from here: http://screencast.com/t/HAmNr80kHi
Note that as Christopher wrote that class it’s used in the style sheet and you need to change it into the style.css file as well otherwise you will lose any style added using that class.
Hope this helps!

Thanks

P.S. Not that that isn’t a truly bizarre finding from Google News. As Chris said, this hasn’t come up in other people’s reviews. I just applied for and was accepted to Google News about two weeks ago and haven’t edited that class. “thumbnail” is also WP’s official/backend term for “featured image”, so it’s quite reasonable to expect references to that name…

Yes, very bizarre. Must be an issue with Italian sites and Google in Europe, perhaps due to some odd translation issue, or just an idiot at Google who doesn’t actually know what he/she is talking about. A “class name” can’t impact an image loading in Google News. Google cannot specify what classes are used by websites, and “thumb” is a common term used for any image. Since Google “scrapes” the actual image ON THE PAGE, it only looks for an image, and the style “class” used for responsive design to set percentage widths for mobile resize, would not make any sense whatsoever.

However, if Google News is TELLING you that, then you should do what they say apparently.

Truly bizarre!

Sorry I wasn’t able to give better help previously on that, as it made no sense in context of the past decade we’ve been in Google news since it launched in BETA. Our sites were among the first in the world to have images loaded into Google News. SO, I’m not just guessing on anything … this note from them on the “class” name really doesn’t make sense from our own experience. Weird.
