Error installing Visual Composer

Hello there,

I have trouble installing the essential Visual Composer plug-in. I have the theme installed via wordpress zip upload and accessed the newsmag tab->plugins to install but it does not work. I have also installed via FTP for both theme and js.composer plugin. Yet, the same error kept appearing as follows:

The plugin does not have a valid header.

Downloading install package from http://www.gamification.co/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip…

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

Destination folder already exists. /htdocs/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/

Plugin install failed.

I referred to other threads with the same issue. Should I send an email to contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so you guys can take a look? Your help would be most appreciated.

Best to unzip on your hard drive then FTP to the plugins folder manually; that’s what I do to ensure it always works.

I did try that process but unfortunately it did not work.

Did you delete the old /plugins/js-composer/ plugin folder before uploading the new one?

There was no prior js-composer plugin folder before I installed the newsmag theme.

Odd that it would fail saying folder exists if no folder there. You might try deleting the folder in the wp-content/plugins there now from attempt.

Download fresh copy from themeforest in the all files download, extract the zip file on you harddrive, then upload the new copy of plugin folder to the plugins folder … Remember to put in wp-content/plugins and not the theme/plugins .. Then go to wp admin, plugins and activate plugin.

It does work so likely some step in that trail is missed or the orig file was corrupt.

Tagdiv support back tomorrow,

Hi

As Chris suggested above make sure that you delete the js_composer folder from /wp-content/plugins deactivate all plugins then try to re-install the plugin from Newsmag-tf.zip\Newsmag-tf\plugins path according to our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/

If the problem persist please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can take a look, also paste a link to this topic.

Thanks!
