a) delete old social counter plugin
b) clear all your site/CDN caching
c) install new social counter plugin
d) put widget in sidebar
e) put in your social account info per the examples
f) check the page on your site
g) if not working, check to see if you have conflict with some other FB/twitter plugin (try F12 in browser to show console errors; easiest with Chrome)

Hi,

Please make sure that you delete the old version of Social Counter, then install and activate the new version of the plugin – http://screencast.com/t/qScPww6guj6 and make sure that it is the latest version – http://screencast.com/t/Mwqpwjj9rtM
You can find and use Social Counter block via Visual Composer in a page or you can use this widget in a sidebar – http://screencast.com/t/daFmoQSgb and just paste your ID like this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-set-social-counter/

Thanks!

Do I have to upgrade v.6 to use this new Social Counter?

Hi,

The new version version of Social Counter was not tested with version 4 of the theme, but you can try it and see if it works.

Thanks!

I tried the new social counter in Newspaper 4, crashed the site, no problem I deleted the plugin and have found an older version of the plugin which works for Twitter anyway, the others show zero, but at least site is online.

The problem now is I can’t seem to add media/posts or deactivate plugins. The errors I get on the WP dashboard:

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/XXXXXX/public_html/en/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 627″

(XXXXXX = site ref so am hiding it here) Also I see:

Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /home/XXXXXX/public_html/en/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/class-wpseo-utils.php on line 608

– I have the site backed up and I am prepared to do the upgrade to v. 6 but part of the instructions are to deactivate plugins which I cannot seem to do.

Shall I go to FTP and delete plugins there, and do the upgrade?
