Exclude categories from posts page

Hello, in order to omit certain posts, i have decided to create categories from not appearing on the home page. i have used the “posts loop” on the home page.
how can i achieve this?
i cannot enter the too many posts that i want to be excluded from the home page.
for example i write 5 posts on the same topic i only want 1 of them to show up in the posts loop. because the rest of 4 would be thin posts such as q and a relating to post published earlier, or some quick update to the article.
can you suggest a best way to achieve – How to skip [categories] or posts from the posts loop.

it would be great if this can be selected from the post itself.
there is a sticky button in the wordpress post controls. can we have similar something for skipping from loops.
please reply.

also one feature suggestion.

Since news are dynamic. almost everyday some topic of a wordpress post has an update. in order to post updates to an already published post, i tried using a couple of plugins, however it didnt work well as it slowed the site down. However here is an example of what i am trying to achieve. ”
A timeline to an existing post. ”
see below.
here is an example plugin
https://wordpress.com/plugins/post-timeline/newspatron.com

here is a typical use case scenario and its bare minimum practical example
[given the case that dynamic developments happen to a given already published post]

Thanks for your understanding.

Hello @newspatron !

The Posts Loop element has only an option to exclude post IDs.
If you would like to use a Flex Block instead, then there is an option to exclude the categories: Multiple terms filter – This option allows you to filter the posts by multiple categories. The procedure is similar to the one used on Post ID filter. Add the category IDs separated by commas (ex: 13,23,18). If you want to exclude categories, add a ‘-’ symbol in front of each ID. If you want to display posts from a category and remove the posts included in one of its sub-categories, first add the parent category ID (ex. Fashion category – 341) and after it places the sub-category ID (ex. Daily subcategory id: 342) with a ‘-’ symbol in front. If you decide to use the ‘Multiple terms filter,’ the standard Category Filter is ignored.
Documentation is here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/flex-block-settings-guide/
Unfortunately, you can’t use two filter options.
We will take your query into consideration in the future.

Thank you!
