Using facebook comments from jetpack I can’t see my users avatar picture, moreover the profile link is broken. If I set up the standard twenty-thirteen theme it starts working again as it should, how can I fix this issue?

Hi,

Do you refer to the facebook comments plugin or to the Jetpack comments? Please provide more details about this.
Also you can try to use a plugin like WP User Avatar for this.

Thanks!

Hi,
I’m using Jetpack comments.

As you can see in the first picture (with newspaper theme turned on) my comment has no avatar. Also the facebook link on my name is wrong.

In the second image (without newspaper theme) you can see the same comment with the right avatar and the right facebook link on my name.

Hi,

We use a custom template for comments that’s why your facebook avatar doesn’t display. Try to copy this comments.php code from a default wordpress theme and it should work – http://pastebin.com/CDfEWUvw

Thanks!

Hi,
I tried to use the file comments.php from a default theme, but I’m not able to see the avatar and author’s name at all.

Hi,

I’ve also tested this and it works. Make sure you connect using your Facebook account. First logout from your WordPress account then connect via Facebook: http://screencast.com/t/imbCh08D5uzB

If you still have trouble using this please go trough this troubleshooter: http://jetpack.me/support/comments/troubleshooting-jetpack-comments/ and make sure that you use the comments module from jetpack according to this guide: http://jetpack.me/support/comments/

And also make sure that you use the comments template from a default theme.

Thanks

i have the same problem, but it has been more than 1 year since this topic.

i tried to use the comments.php from the default theme and it worked, but the style does not look good.

is there a new way to make facebook and twitter avatars show in the comment section when using jetpack comments? the avatars are shown on the admin panel, just not on the comments section.

i tried to use it on the KLEO theme and there’s no issue. please help.

Hi,

Unfortunately this is not tested and there is no implementation for the jetpack comments. It has been a year, yes and you are the only person since then to ask for such a thing. We have many, many requests and we have to pick carefully what we implement in our theme. A request from one person, has a very low priority on our list as you can imagine an international product works. If this request gets popular and more people ask for it, we will implement it in our theme without a doubt, but since there is little to no requests for this, I cannot say for sure…sorry. If you provide a link to your site, I can take a look at the layout and see if there is any quick fix to be added via css.

Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience.

wow! what do you mean request? just because i’m asking a question doesn’t mean i’m asking you to modify your theme for just ONE PERSON.

i bought both of your themes and recommended it to my friends. i tested the jetpack comments social avatar on at least 8 of my other purchased themes and they all work, except for newsmag and newspaper. but i wanted to stick to newspaper because of its superior quality.

such a rude way to address a simple issue.

Hi,

We appreciate you recommending and using our themes. I did not mean to be rude, I just stated the reason for why this was not yet implemented as it was reported 1 year ago. The jetpack comments seem to conflict with our own.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. As a simple alternative to this issue, you can implement facebook comments without jetpack like this topic shows: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/facebook-comments-2/
Th above solution will not work anymore in the current version of the theme.

Thank you!

i need the jetpack comments system because i have a plugin which exports the comments from my FB page into my wordpress database. jetpack also allows users to login using their social network accounts without creating an account in my site.

here is my site –> http://hoops.ph

you said in your previous post that maybe some css can fix it. well, im hoping you could check it out and find a way to display the facebook/twitter avatars. thanks.

Hi,

I have checked your site and it seems my avatar is showing up in the comments: http://screencast.com/t/vrHE0AqxLP
and when I post a comment the avatar is still present. http://screencast.com/t/48iNXFHWS I also tried with a different facebook account and it still works as expected. But this is not the jetpack comments, but the FB comments plugin you have active. I will have to be able to see the jetpack comments in order to provide any fix for it, as the fb comments work as expected it seems. If only the avatar will be missing fropm the jetpack comments, css cannot add it back in. You mentioned a layout issue. css fixes layout issues, but not functionality.

Thank you!
