For no apparent reason images and article titles will no longer post to either Facebook or Pinterest. Facebook share box only shows the website name and Pinterest replies with the error “Sorry we could not fetch the image”
I have tried disabling all plugins, modified the header.php to remove the og:image entry as suggested in another thread, tried a specific open-graph plugin with all others disabled but to no avail. When using Facebook URL Debugger I receive the following message: Object at URL ‘https://godhelpusall.com/tackling-inequality-economic-imperative/‘ of type ‘website’ is invalid because a required property ‘og:title’ of type ‘string’ was not provided.
Stranger still is the fact that this started happening one day last week, without any changes being made to both the theme and the website?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Kevin
Facebook sometimes works sometimes does not. This is normal. Nothing you can do about it. If your site has proper OG tags it should work most of the time. Often when FB overloaded you can try again later or following day. Just how it is. Check your page source for one of your posts to make sure the actual data is there — perhaps if using Yoast SEO and you did the new version update, be sure to go through and resave all your settings.
Pinterest has been changing their system on/off the past month as the move to adding business accounts for promoted pins. They are also pushing to “verify” sites from the account when logged in for the site admin/Pinterest account login. We did this last week, and seemed to help.
Hi,
Having those open graph tags og: should solve this however I’ve checked your site using the FB debugger tool and noticed this curl errors: http://screencast.com/t/betP0eGVld5h
This looks like an issues from fb end so you could also address this to their support.
After some research I found that it seems
“Facebook have acknowledged it as a valid bug and it has been “Assigned” for fixing.”
