Facebook Share

We are having issues with the FACEBOOK share icon under/over each article. If you share the article on Twitter it will bring up the exact article. If you click on FACEBOOK share button it will only share our website (not the article). We have contacted TagDiv before and they told us to Disable all plugins and try something. It didn’t work. Sent them an email back with our login info. It then worked for a while but has since went back to its old ways. For obvious reasons this is a huge deal for us. Anyone?????

It’s an issue with Facebook timing out. Theme has zero control over FB.

FB uses the open graph meta found in the head of you page, and then EVERYTHING is up to FB to capture from that. Theme has NO control over that in any way.

You can try using the FB debugger tool, and you can also try using the ‘refresh attachment’ option once you share the post on your FB timeline.

Not much else you can do — they have 2 billion users now; so sometimes they can’t capture your content due to timeout issues on your system, pipes between locations, DNS issues, etc.

Welcome to the interwebs! 🙂

Yes, well — theme doesn’t manage your open graph settings, image compression level, server speed, IP blocking, Facebook API, etc.

All you can do on theme and plugin side is add the tags, check that FB can access them, adjust anything breaking the tags, or blocking loading of images, etc., and then it’s up to FB to capture the content.

You cannot pay them or force them or berate them — they don’t care; you’re not paying them to grab your posts.

I’ve been in the beta FB stuff since FB first launched, and this is a recurring issue. But there you are.

Setup your FB developer account, check your posts, code, etc., learn to clear FB cache of your post if it’s hiccup-ing, check your page speed carefully, caching, image speed, etc. — all that stuff impacts FB being able to get stuff “quick.” A 600×450 image that is 35kb will be more likely to get captured properly than a 350kb image the same size, for example.

Anyway, good luck.
