Hello, I’ve done the same, But, yet not updating any followers.
Hi, Anamaria, I think I’ve figured out the solution.
Please refer to the following steps:
1. Go to Newspaper Theme Panel
2) Social Networks
3) Connect Fb account
4) Give your credentials
5) Allow tagdiv to connect
6 you’re done.
Please spread this information, as there are many people experiencing the same problem.

I have the same problem.
I am creating a web site for a newspaper: https://prensasocial.es/ using your theme Newspaper v11
We have just started a few days ago 3 accounts (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) so we have very few followers:
Facebook – 4

But as you can see here, inside the [tagDiv] Social Counter widget, only gets right Twitter’s ones:
I read the answer by great1212 about connecting to Facebook inside Theme Panel, but I had done that already.
As you can see, inside the Theme Panel it says that our Facebook account is connected properly:
It even gets right here the amount of likes and followers we have.
So then why we don’t get them right inside the [tagDiv] Social Counter widget?
No idea.

Also, to display the number of followers for Instagram, you need to use Instagram as a “Business” or “Creator” page, in this way those Instagram pages will be administered by a Facebook account (this is how Facebook API is working).

I am not very worried just now with Instagram, because we don’t know yet who will be updating and adding news to it. We may even delate that account.
I am a lot more worried about our Facebook account because it is working a lot more.
Any way I had already set our Facebook ID properly inside the [tagDiv] Social Counter widget, as you can see here:
I have tried with our ID number: 100535625635340
Or with our user name in Facebook: PrensaSocialElPeriodicoQueNosUne
It doesn’t matter which one I use
It keeps saying we have 0 fans
Sorted it
It was the cache
I emptied it, refresh the web a few times and voilà
It’s working now
