Hi,
Over the past few days, we have noticed that our pages are displaying incorrectly on both Facebook and Instagram’s in-app browsers when opening links to our site Stroud Times
Our mobile pages are loading fine in browsers: https://ibb.co/WGq60mh
But when opened from within a Facebook or Instagram app they appear as such: https://ibb.co/txvRQJY
What’s weird about this is nothing has been changed recently in terms of plugins or caching it’s just started happening. I have already tried disabling plugins, clearing the cache on both plugin server and browser.
I wondered if tagDiv might have any suggestions as to what may be causing this?

Hello @stroudtimes!
When you open a website from Facebook app for example, they have their own browser, but I can see that your website is not damaged: https://prnt.sc/26wwrvk
In-App version of the browser has a number of restrictions and does not fully support all the features available in modern stand-alone web browsers. This can affect how many websites work.
Thank you!
Admittedly your screenshot is different from mine but you can see that the page width is way too big further down the page.
I realise that in-app browsers don’t support everything but what I can’t work out is why for the past year our site has loaded fine in FB/Insta browsers and now over the past few days it doesn’t
Hello @stroudtimes!
Google Chrome, Mozzila, Safari, Edge are the browser is working great with Facebook too.
To change the browser to your default browser, on Android mobile apps, tap the Facebook menu icon in the top right, scroll down to Settings & Privacy, tap Settings then scroll down to Media & Contacts, tap and then enable the Links open externally option. That’s it. In future when you try to open a link, Facebook will use your default browser.
Thank you!
I know that that’s a way of getting around it but I can’t expect all 80,000 of our users to do that or work it out – they’ll just bounce and we lose traffic.
My question is has anything changed in the recent update? We haven’t had any issues with the site loading in in-app browsers from FB/Insta before. The in-app Twitter browser still loads fine it’s just in the past week or so things are not loading correctly on FB/Instagram.
Regards,
C

Hello @stroudtimes!
From what I know, we haven’t change anything regarding to this issue. Please make sure it’s not a cache issue. You can make a test and revert the update and see the changes.
Let me know the results!
