"Facts" in sidebar

So, I’m doing a school newspaper and for some of my stories I have some extra facts or short explanations that I would put in a box next to the article in the actual newspaper.

It would be really cool if I could add those facts to the sidebar of that particular story (post) on my website without having to create a new custom sidebar for each story.

Is that possible?

Hi,

I do not understand exactly what you are trying to achieve. For example you can have a subtitle for the posts – https://www.screencast.com/t/XMKyQsUGo that displays under the post title in the article page – https://www.screencast.com/t/YXQDCHXS4VP or you can create custom sidebars and use them with the respective posts – https://www.screencast.com/t/wEm45SvUfW6 in which you can use any of the available blocks, or a text block with title like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/A0WiMDbKRUua and style it the way you like.

Thanks

I understand about creating custom siderbars, but if I have one hundred articles, that would mean I need to create one hundred sidebars – and that’s not reasonable. So when I create a post, I would like a box where I can put some text that will appear in the sidebar. Like a custom field whose value appears in the sidebar.

Hi,

I can not think of a way of achieving this with the current theme settings. You could try to enable Visual composer on posts – https://www.screencast.com/t/2JEVrikwJl and add text blocks in the post page structure, but this has not been tested and may not work properly. Or maybe try a plugin that allows you to display this field in the post and allows you to place it in the post structure.

Thanks
