Fatal Error with Blubrry Powerpress after update

I am getting the following fatal error for my Blubrry Powerpress plugin after updating to the latest version of Newspaper:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_list_encodings() in /home/name/public_html/wp-includes/SimplePie/Misc.php on line 356

Any help is appreciated.

I should note that switching to a different theme solves the problem so I assume it is an issue with Newspaper v 7.5.

Activating the tagDiv Speed Booster plugin solved the problem.

Still having problems. I still get the fatal error message when first logging in to admin if Newspaper is my theme. I then change themes and the error is gone. I then switch back to Newspaper and there is no error. Kind of a weird work-around.

Hello vrpimp,

Unfortunately, this type of plugins is not tested with our theme and we have no idea about the theme behaviour with this type of plugin and also, we cannot say for sure if it will work or not with our theme, sorry! Also, please notice that we cannot provide support for untested plugins.

Thanks for the message!

With the latest update the admin dashboard homepage is not accessible at all and gives the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_list_encodings() in /home/mywebsite/public_html/wp-includes/SimplePie/Misc.php on line 356

Turning off plugins does not fix the problem. The problem does not occur when I switch to other themes.

Free & Simple Contact Form Plugin – PirateForms and Blubrry Powerpress plugins seem to be causing the issue.
