Common recurring problems with Facebook. Nothing to do with your site or theme, or at least the theme.
You can use the Facebook developer debug tool to check the page you’re trying to share.
We have this ongoing issue across our network of sites going on several years now.
Facebook cannot always populate the data, timing out on their end or your end. In those instances you have to manually paste in the headline and first paragraph, and then manually upload photo, then drop in URL last then save. Saves as photo post, but at least it’s really there. Otherwise you randomly get the annoying box with nothing but the site URL, which is stupid useless.
So, you’re not crazy. Nothing anybody can do about it.
Well, kind of disapointing, but in your template actually i can see that is working fine, look http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/drink-a-cold-coffee/
Not my template (I don’t work here … although it might seem so this month as I’m poking my nose in while working on my two 24-inch cinema displays, and waiting for stuff to “happen” on one, while wasting time on the other … more twitter posts lately than in years!).
As I said, it’s an issue with Facebook, varies from time of day, time of post, post content, if it’s already been indexed by Facebook by somebody else, issue with conflicting plugin — did you try the debug tool on YOUR site, as suggested?
Point was, even in perfect setup – you will get random issues of FB not working. I posted 6 things to our company page today, one would not populate had to do it manually out of annoyance – but I’ve learned to work around their stupid timeout issues.
Enjoy!
Hi,
@ Christopher – Thank you!
As Christopher said Facebook updates data from time to time, the posts on our demo server didn’t changed in a long time so that’s a good reason on why the share data is correct. You can also update data manually using their debugger – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ and press Fetch New Scrape Information. After you do this check the share, it should work fine – http://screencast.com/t/JUaWm31f
Thank you, Emil G.
