Hello,
In Newspaper > Theme Panel > Per category settings > Aphorisms (that’s the particular category I want to customize)
I choose the Style 6 under
CATEGORY TEMPLATE This is the header of the category
This way I get a grey overly image with the category title in the middle, and I think this is a placeholder for an image, but I cannot find a place where to upload it.

Hello,
The spot you mention is a transparent box that will show the category background through it. There is no image spot but rather an empty space for the backgorund to be seen there.

Please upload a category background from the category settings.
