Its possible to create a simple function to add specific image to posts and pages using the ”featured image” option like we already have for video? I am using soundcloud embed code to add audio in my posts.
I really hope newspaper implement this option in future updates.

Hello Mr.P,
Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to add an external image to be featured image, sorry! You should find some plugins which have this functionality and try to implement them in our theme because we cannot do this, sorry!
