I run a site which is starting to host a lot of collatoral, as such we try to limit the amount of images hosted on the site.
I used a plugin called featured image from URL, which doesnt seem to be compatible with this theme. (The only theme it doesnt). Are you looking to implement this in any future updates?
I use the Auto Post Thumbnail PRO to make a ‘featured image’ from external source. You still need all the thumbs ‘locally’ to serve in modules. SO, there has to be a ‘featured image’ in place to build those thumbs. Since theme uses built-in thumb image building for WP, works if it works with WP. So, as long as you can get your external image “into the featured image” box seen on the post edit screen it should work.
