Featured Image Link

Hi!

I’d like to know if it’s possible to make the featured image on a post clickable to a URL.

Default behaviour is:

1) I set a featured image when creating a new post.
2) This featured image is inserted automatically at top of the post.
3) When displaying the post at http://www.mydomain.com/article-name I have the featured image at the beginning and when I do an overmouse I see the image links to http://www.mydomain.com/article-name/#

It’s possible to change that destination url to a customized one?

FYI
simple way to do that is turn off “show featured image” for posts in the theme customizer,
then place your featured image in story at top wrapped in anchor link to where you want it to link to, or use that function in the media manager, then choose featured image bottom right of post page.

What this does is use the media manager to post image which has the anchor link as per default WP behavior, but the featured image is used for thumbnails on all the other indexes and home page.

I only ran into this with one of our other sites with different theme, but same behavior.

Much easier than hacking the theme, and nice thing is if you don’t want links on some of the post images, just leave link off. This is about the only way to do this selectively, keep featured images for thumbnails, but not have the theme put two copies of the image at top of the post.
