Just updated from WP version 4.2.5 to 4.3.1 and recognized that the featured image won’t be cropped anymore. We are using Newspaper 4 – an upgrade can’t be done because of design changes at version 6.
a) perhaps post in Newspaper forum for faster reply
b) you often have to regenerate thumbnails when changing themes — NP6 is an all new theme from NP4
I love Newsmag but if I had more money, I would of gotten Newspaper instead with Newspapers 6 changes. It has more than Newsmag. I just went for the next best thing under Newspaper. I just wish Newsmag had the full width option in the panel like Newspaper without this smaller grid we got on Newsmag. I doubt it will ever happen. Just hope one of these days I will be able to swap over to Newspaper.

Also, as said above @Chris S, please use a plugin to regenerate your thumbnails, as like Force Regenerate and the problem should be solved. https://ro.wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/
