when I chose featured posts as the sorting order of a block, and I don’t filter them by category or anything, how are these featured posts chosen? is it random posts? tks.

The sorting option for the featured category returns the posts in descending order. The latest posts. If you select a category from the category filter and use the featured sorting option, the theme will grab the featured posts from that particular category in descending order. If you select the featured category itself from the category dropdown, then it will display featured posts from all categories.

The theme will know which posts are featured if they are added to the ‘featured’ category . if you do not have this category, you can simply create it and name it “Featured” Then the theme will remove this category from all places so it will not show up. It will be just for sorting purposes. (the theme comes with this predefioned category but people usually just delete it)

Thanks for your reply. So, you mean the theme searches for a category named “Featured” (instead of using the category ID) and take the posts from it? We have a category named “Featured” before, so I guess while installing the theme it did not create the category named “Featured”.

The theme uses the name and the slug so the category can be hidden. The name needs to be “Featured” and the slug “featured” If you create a category like that, then it will work like the one that the theme creates by default. In your case if you already had a category named featured, it is possible the theme did not create it. We have not tested this however.
