Featured thumbnail in video post format rather than video itself

Hi,

Rather than the video itself, I’d like to have the featured thumbnail in video post formats. Then, when author fill out “Featured Video” field, it displays the thumbnail of the video on the loop rather than the video.

Is it possible?

Hi,

Finally, I noticed that the thumbnail appears only when I publish article as a “standard” format, before changing it by “video” format. If I publish the post directly as a video post format, the featured image is not generated (even if I mention the URL video in featured video).

Will it be possible to add this functionnality in future updates?

Hi,

The thumbnail should also be generated if you use a video URL added to the video URL filed and the post set to “standard” and an the thumb of that video will appear as feature image. If you use a video though and set the post format to “video” then the thumb will be generated the same way but the differences would be that the video will be now displayed inside the post and not the image.
