Hi,
Can’t get this to work – WordPress doesn’t seem to accept video post format selected.
This is what happens:
When I click on the bullit video format on a new post and save, the bullit goes to the bottom of the file format list and the video format name disappears.
Also the featured video image is created but when you click on it all that happens is the image gets bigger and that’s all.
Any idea on how to fix?
Thanks
Derek
Hi,
Have you tried this without any other plugins active as I have also checked this and found no issue with the video format setting or functionality.
In your case this could be caused by a plugin so make sure that you exclude this probability and check without plugins and also remember to empty cache and/or purge files and let me know if you still have this issues.
Thanks
Hi,
I have also tested this using the latest theme version and haven’t had the issues you describe. Please check your console for errors and also make sure you use the latest theme version (4.6) then check again without plugins as this should not happen.
If you still have issues with this after all this please give let me know and send us you wp-admin login details so we can have a look at this and also provide a link to this tread or specify this issue you have in detail.
Thanks
Lucian,
Thank you for your feedback. I’m using version 4.6 so that’s not the issue.
Console error was as follows:
Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CACHE_MISS
https://www.facebook.com/plugins/comments.php?api_key=591407500917698&chann…iew-love-addict-3%2F&locale=en_US&numposts=6&sdk=joey&skin=light&width=600 Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CACHE_MISS
Can you please let me have your email address so I can send you my admin login details for you to investigate further?
Thanks
Derek

Hi,
Sorry for the delay!
Could you please make sure that you have sent you message to the right email address as I have just searched for your messages on both inbox and spam folders and haven’t found any message related to your issue.
Please send it again and let me know when you send it and also let me know from what email address you have sent it.
Thanks
Lucian, I’m so sorry I sent the details to your noreply address in error. I’ve now sent to contact@tagdiv.com.
Lucian,
I asked Hostgator to look at this and they did so and came back with the following replies so they have concluded the problem lies with your widget. The solution they have suggested is not one I can adopt because you end up with a post that contains both the featured video and the featured image on the same page. Please can you advise?
Thank you
Derek
HOSTGATOR FIRST REPLY
Hello Derek,
Thank you for contacting us!
The errors seen on this page are effectively harmless — http://screencast.com/t/KqzT16jqi
PHP is trying to load two files — “pdo.so” and “pdo_mysql.so”
Those extensions are built into the PHP binary itself, so the references to the “.so” files are superfluous and not indicative of any problem.
As for the video issue, is there a way which we can recreate this problem? The specific steps that need to be followed to see this problem should suffice. If you also have a video file that we can use this will also help.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!
Thank you,

HOSTGATOR SECOND REPLY
Hello again Derek,
Thank you for getting back to us and providing us with this information!
We created a post in an attempt to reproduce this problem, and it can be found here — http://howdoidate.com/relationships/test-2/
It’s private so it won’t show listed on the site, as seemingly random “test” posts aren’t particularly good site content!
Anyway, the issue here is that the although the image is created, the video itself doesn’t show, correct?
We were able to get the video to be in there using the “Add Media” button (with the “From URL” option).
The issue with the widget seems to be an inherent problem with it, and not so much the server as the “Insert Media” method works. So, in the future, you may want to simply use the widget to create the featured image while using the “Add Media” button to add the video itself wherever it needs to be in the content.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!
Thank you,

Lucian,
I’m still waiting for a fix for this. Since you have found this feature to work ok on a fresh install just wondering if I should reinstall my theme to fix the issue.
What do you think and if you do think it’s worth a try how can I make sure after the fresh install that everything is the same as before?
Thanks
Derek
Hi,
First of all please backup the database and all file on your server and try to install a fresh WordPress and the theme and check if this still happens.
Please let me know how ti goes.
In case nothing works we can also offer a refund.
Sorry for all the trouble you’ve encountered using our theme.
Thanks
Lucin,
I’ve re-installed WordPress 4.1 and installed fresh copy of Newspaper Theme but the problem persists.
I don’t want a refund since I love this theme although it was good of you to offer. I’d really like a fix.
I have to say that I had this very same problem with a previous theme and used a workaround whereby I posted the video in audio format but the Newspaper theme doesn’t list audio format so I can’t try.
Do you think this is a WordPress problem?
Regards,
Derek
Hi,
We’ve checked your site but unfortunately we couldn’t determine the reasons for this issue, if this still happens without any plugins activate and with the WordPress default themes then this could indicate a WordPress install issue or it could be server issue which is not related to the theme.
You can also see here a discussion about this: https://theme.co/x/member/forums/topic/custom-post-formats-not-working-in-renew-stack/
My advise is to try this with a fresh WordPress install and check this before installing any plugins or theme and check to see if it works.
A work around would be to use the featured video filed to set featured video’s thumb as a featured image then add the video to the post using it’s url and set your post to use the gallery format to remove the video thumb from the post.
Ex:
post configuration: http://screencast.com/t/iohl0yE9KDTz
result: http://screencast.com/t/zb9CpNU7
Hope this helps!
Thanks
