Hi all,
I see you can set the “Post type” in a block filter to “page” but I can’t get further than this (except by setting the post ID) in refining the filter. Is there something I’m missing?
Here’s the context:
On a site that is under development for a weekly print newspaper, each issue page contain blocks of article posts for each category, filtered by their issue tag, which is marvellous, leading to really fast updates and beautiful presentation of the latest weekly issue in print.
The problem is we have a Media page, in which we want to have a flex block which displays the latest issue pages of the weekly newspaper, as opposed to the latest posts.
The client can use the Post ID filter and put the page ID in, and update this each week.
But the client’s current bespoke website Media page uses code to fetch the latest issue automatically, so I am at a disadvantage, (the code will not operate on wordpress).
I realise that if each weekly newspaper issue was in its own category, I could use a category page rather than a normal page, but this is a wrong approach for various reasons. (For instance, the site will contain over 1000 issues, and categories are simply not intended to be used in that way. But also, the page for each issue is used to highlight and arrange the content in a way a category template cannot.)
I’m hoping you have experience of this issue.
They could create a summary post each week tagged with the issue number, and the Media page could filter by that, but this is duplication.
It would be great if the latest page got automatically shown, maybe according to its parent page ([newspaper name]) , if this can be set in the filter somehow.
Or I guess pages don’t work that way? Is there a work around? Am I approaching this wrong? Just hoping…
Hope you can help.
Thanks
Pete
Hi,
Unfortunately, for pages we do not have many filters, it can be use those files https://i.imgur.com/qpTfXcf.png for the moment the theme filters are more for the posts and for pages and cpt are only a few of them.
Thank you for your understanding!
