Hello,

I have tried to find and replace all words “td_” with another words for example “al_” also I have renamed all files and folders with name “td_” to “al_” but after my page is not working. Is there any way to replace this name “td_” with another name? We don’t like to show in view source that “td_”.

Hope you understand me what I mean

Thank You!

Hello ebhelloworld28,

Unfortunately, we do not recommend to do this because you can break the theme, sorry! This is the standard name of our classes, and you should change them from entire theme files. You can try to use the search and replace method, but we cannot say for sure if it works because we do not try this, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!

Sorry but I’m disappointed with it you have named all classes with ‘td’. Put on your mind, we are purchasing this theme, and we don’t like everyone to know that we have purchased and have same theme with all others website. I have tried for more than 2 weeks to find and replace this ‘td’ name but he is causing too much problems after that.

@ebhelloworld28

welcome to WordPress. FYI, most complex themes use custom classes (e.g., td_) for custom code, custom plugins, and custom CSS to extend Visual Composer; this is partly to keep things organized for developers and also to minimize “collisions” with other theme developers. Most plugin devs do this also, whether it’s Yoast, Advanced Custom Fields (eg., “acf_blah”), etc.

Doesn’t it make sense if the theme has a custom plugin, custom menus, etc. that are intended for its own theme, to use custom classes?

You can use a proper programmer editor to do full search/replace in ALL files but no way to do this by hand, and also it means you won’t be able to do updates to theme without redoing all the changes.

Most savvy webdev folk can “figure out” which theme you use without too much trouble, so you’re not really hiding that from anybody except newbies looking at source code. “real devs” can easily deduce which theme it is.

I might suggest to get some professional help, as this can break the theme. This is because there are many related components in different files which are inter-related.

adding to what Chris said, my very new experience with WordPress lets me believe that figuring out a theme’s origin is not difficult in WordPress. At the same time, changing file names and td_ (which i believe stands for TagDiv), the name and version of the theme are written as per WP guidelines and included in the files – stylesheets etc.

TagDiv Newspaper theme is a very popular and great theme, and for starting a news site, i would be happy to let my audience and people know I am using this theme, so they know I mean serious business. In fact, after using NP7, i saw some other website and without even looking at source code, i could say it was news paper 7 theme – its the quality of work which shows. That also tells me, i made a good choice by putting my money here.

Of course, that being said —
I did have to do that on a non-TD theme we use for one of our ecommerce solutions, where the method used to put featured block on front page was using “blah-ad_blah” … and so ad filters in browers would show blank boxes on front page of store thinking they were “ads” — we had to do a search/replace in the theme (I think we used either TextPad 5 or Dreamweaver) — I mentioned it to the theme foundry (a major foundry …); i still don’t think they’ve fixed that as they did it in *all* their themes. Had to fix all the “ad” classes to “neo” short for our company trademark and all that. Works fine. But — we tested the heck out of that before customer every saw it!

My lesson from THAT was not to us “ad” in any classes 😉

Hello there,

please do not misunderstand me. In our country is this culture… if people seen that we are using purchased template for our website, immediately he make criticisms. Your theme is the best theme I’ve seen and for this reason i have purchased.

Hope you undersand me what i mean…

Thank you the best theme 🙂
