Footer customization

Hello,

First of, I hope everyone is doing very well ! ๐Ÿ™‚

And yeah, amazing work guys on the Newspaper 6 theme, great job, really.

I’m writing you today about the footer part of my site. I’m kinda stuck.

In fact, I’d like to built my footer exactly as this site one : http://makemylemonade.com/happy-friday-77/

1 ) So 3 columns and 1 bottom row.

The first column on the left will be category list.

The middle one, an about section ( about, contact, newsletter, legal mentions, …).

The right one : the social icons + a custom contact icon

The bottom row : an Instagram feed gallery.

2) I’d also like to add my email at the very bottom right of my sub-footer, but in plain text (aka no interaction). How can I do that ?

Thanks very much for your time and dedication guys. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi,

1. It is possible to have 3 columns in the footer but for the full bottom row you will have to alter the code. For example you could use footer style 5 and add your widget in the footer columns(Footer 1,2,3) – http://screencast.com/t/92ffWeyeKahttp://screencast.com/t/a6H9xNkd and for the social icons you need to edit the template 5 and add this code – http://screencast.com/t/DeJkvoTsn
Also for the bottom row you have to edit td_footer_extra_bottom.php to add your instagram widget – http://screencast.com/t/9diHuQfu0R77
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have exactly the same template and you need this modification. If you don’t have basic experience I suggest to hire a freelancer to do this for you as we cannot provide custom work, sorry!

2. A solution to add your mail to the subfooter is to add a custom link to the subfooter menu, add an extra class – http://screencast.com/t/9W8mme5QH and add this custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css – http://screencast.com/t/apZe4DLuZ0

.td-footer-link {
pointer-events: none;
cursor: default;
}

Thanks!

Hi Alin !

And first of, thank you very much for your ultra quick feedback. I really appreciate. You guys are awesome, you know that right !? ๐Ÿ™‚

Your tips work very well, it’s awesome.

Concerning the instagram widget, I understand your position, but I’d like to do it myself.

The forum is helping me a lot, and I’m learning a lot from your tips. I’m gonna make it thanks to you, and that’s gold ! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks again, and see you soon on the forum !

Best,

Hi again !

Just a little add to this post.

In order for the subfooter content and the subfooter menu not to conflict ( text stacking on two rows ), I added this little code in the Theme Panel > Custom Css :

.td-sub-footer-container .td-sub-footer-menu {
width: 50%;
margin-right: 0px !important
}
.td-sub-footer-container .td-sub-footer-copy {
width: 50%;
margin-left: 0px !important
}

Hope this helps !

Hi again!

I succeeded to add my instagram widget to the footer extra bottom, but I’m facing a new challenge now.

1 ) How do I adjust the height of the row ?

2 ) And the width of the widget ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help ! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Alin,

I hope you’re doing very well !

Sorry for the late reply, I was abroad last week with few to no internet connection.

So here’s my homepage template : http://www.leclaqueurdedoigts.com/

I’d like the extra footer row where the instagram feed is to be thinner in height.

How can I achieve that ?

P.S : Btw, I succeeded to deal with the width of the widget, this question is resolved. ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay I succeeded to handle this.

Here’s the code I put in the CSS customization panel of the theme :

.td-footer-wrapper {
padding-top: 40px;
padding-bottom: 20px;
}

.td-footer-wrapper .block-title {
border-bottom: 0;
font-size: 18px;
font-weight: 700;
margin-bottom: 25px;
}

.td-footer-bottom-full {
padding-top: 0px;
padding-bottom: 0px;
margin-bottom: -25px;
margin-top: 0px;
}

.td-footer-bottom-full .td-container:before {
content: '';
height: 2px;
position: relativ;
top: -10px;
width: 100%;
left: 0%;
margin-left: 0%;
margin-top: 0px;
}
