We are using Newspaper theme to publish an online health magazine. Works great!
We want to include a doctor directory.
We’d like to place 3 form fields at the top of a page…
Location (with a drop-down menu of location categories)
Specialty (with a drop-down menu of specialty categories)
Keyword (open form text field)
First question… does Newspaper have a form element or widget?
Second question… assuming I use a plugin like Contact Form 7, how do I build a query from the form fields to generate the proper category posts?
For example, if someone entered “Chicago” in the location field and “Dentist” in the specialty field… I would want to see all posts assigned to both the Chicago and Dentist categories.
Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an from widget or element. You could use an online tool to build and generate your form code and then use Visual Composer’s raw code elements or wp text widget to pace your code to the page: http://screencast.com/t/QhmLzppvb I haven’t tested this but it could work.
If it doesn’t you suggest you search and use a plugin for this.
2. I don’t think contact form 7 plugin can be used to generate search forms. You need another plugin for that, you could try to use: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-advanced-search/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-wp-query-search-filter/

I am using a plugin called Search & Filter. It looks promising but I need to spend some time with it to customize it the way I want it to display.
