I am currently remodeling my site using the 9.8 update and have come across a weird behaviour considering comment urls (as in “https://www.mysite.se/article/comment-page-2#comments“)
Before when clicking on next page of comments would result in an url-change like the one above. Also before when clicking on the comments-symbol in the beginning (to move down to the comments) the url would look like: “https://www.mysite.se/article/#comments“.
This is however not the fact when using a cloud template (which I´m experimenting with now). When switching pages of comments or clicking the comments-symbol the url quickly changes to “../comment-page-2#comments” or “../#comments”. However half a second later the url is back to the normal article one.
I am afraid this behavior might have an effect on SEO if i go live with the site. Have you noticed this during development, and why does this happen?
Thanks for a great support 🙂
Hi,
I’ve just made some test and for me this is working normally -> http://prntscr.com/ovltdn -> http://prntscr.com/ovltu3 -> http://prntscr.com/ovlu0i -> http://prntscr.com/ovlu8s -> http://prntscr.com/ovluez
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, if the problem persist, please provide some more details about the template that you are using.
Thank you!
It only seems to be occurring on certain themes (or templates). If you, for example, go to the demo of the Romanian-theme (great theme btw!) and click the comments-icon next to the page-views you will quickly see the word #respond appear for half a second next to the url. Then it disappears.
Take this page for example: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_romania_news/penns-expanding-political-climate-gears-up-for-2020-election/
Edit: Well, it seems turning off the auto-loading feature makes the links display like normal again. Also noticed that the #comments-page-1 etc. also disapperas completely from the source-code as well when this function is enabled.
Personally i really like the auto-loading function and would love to keep it. But now I feel a little unsure, when it comes to SEO and all that with the links disappearing :-/ What are your thoughts?

Hi,
Yes, indeed on this demo the url is change, but this is because is set the auto loading -> http://prntscr.com/ovmdvw -> http://prntscr.com/ovmec2 if you’ll disable it it will work normally!
Thank you!
That is true, not sure you saw the edit in my last post. I would very much like to use the auto loading feature. However it feels that it might have an impact on SEO when it behaves like this. Since the actual URL change. Or am I being paranoid? 🙂
Also thought i might be good to be able to link to a certain comment page for example. Hence it would be nice to see the link for it.
