New install of newspaper. Cannot figure out how to create a gallery that is anything other than non-clickable in article thumbnails. Same thing with individual images uploaded one at a time.
Example here

What am I doing wrong? WordPress v5.0.1. Newspaper v9.2.
Hi,
The theme modal will work only if the images/gallery are inserted in the post content with the classic element of Gutenberg

This might change in the future, I can’t say for sure what will happen, at the moment.
Thanks
I don’t quite understand, the images will look the same – http://prntscr.com/lwv1ej regardless of using the dedicated image element or the classic element.
The function that automatically crops images dependent upon how many images are in a row. Rows with three images are cropped differently than rows with one of two images.
Example, see how on this page there are rows with three images, two images and only one image. Each is cropped different automatically and gives it a much cleaner look than using the classic editor.

That is a much cleaner look than using the classic editor as in this one.

Those are both WordPress galleries, not affected by the theme, in terms of thumb used or it’s size and cropping.
In the second example you must be using the thumbnail size of the images
– http://prntscr.com/lxb2yu
Using a larger size there would create a different result. Comparison for the two galleries, with bigger images selected in the classic editor gallery (medium)
WordPress crops the images if set here – http://prntscr.com/lxb8aw
So if the cropping is on there, and the thumbnail size is selected, on default settings the gallery will show images of 150x150px cropped.
The gallery in the Gutenberg gallery further applies cropping to ensure even images

This is how I see it, I could be wrong in some aspects however. Haven’t made that many tests with WordPress galleries.
